PRESS RELEASE – ARCIGAY NATIONAL TRANSFEMINIST WOMEN'S NETWORK
Today, February 28, 2026, a national mobilization will take place in Rome.

Today the national mobilization reaches Rome: the procession will depart at 2 pm from Piazza della Repubblica.

The mobilization, promoted by anti-violence centers along with feminist and transfeminist groups, continues to grow by the hour. More and more civil society groups are uniting to resolutely affirm the full self-determination of bodies, their inviolability, and the freedom of choice for every person.

Thirty years after the passage of Law 66/96 on sexual violence, the streets are once again reaffirming that the inviolability of bodies, inalienable human rights, and the culture of consent are non-negotiable. They are, under Italian and international law, as required by the Istanbul Convention ratified by Italy.

“Without consent it's rape” It's not a slogan or a technicality: it means recognizing people's self-determination, the freedom to love and be loved, and full respect for bodies and identities. It's a battle for civilization and democracy that concerns everyone. Recent international scandals demonstrate how urgent it is to decisively combat rape culture, unambiguously and without retreat.

Buses are expected to arrive in Rome from all over Italy, a sign of a civil society that is forcefully responding to the call of anti-violence centers and movements. The National Arcigay Transfeminist Women's Network invites everyone to participate in today's march., Saturday, February 28: Meet in Piazza della Repubblica at 1 p.m., departing at 2 p.m.
