“By the grace of God, same-sex families are few.”, with this statement Daniele Ciavolino, facility manager Corte77 2.0 in Torre Annunziata, responds, in a WhatsApp chat opened by the "Libera" anti-mafia association of the Torre Annunziata garrison, to Antonello Sannino, President of Antinoo Arcigay Napoli at the end of a long and intense discussion on the case of the Algerian boxer Khelif.
Daniele's WhatsApp profile lists the business and advertising details of the Corte77 2.0 bistro, which Google claims is one of its strengths: being an LGBTQ+-friendly establishment. How is it possible that a restaurant that claims to be LGBTQ+-friendly could imagine publicly saying that, by the grace of God, same-sex families are few and far between? Should they therefore be limited? If they become too many, should we find a way to reduce them? What? Physically eliminate them?
Unfortunately, the discriminatory policies of this government and this right-wing parliamentary majority are producing precisely this: violence, intolerance, and hatred. These homophobic and misogynistic statements are, in our view, abhorrent. We demand that the owners of the Corte77 2.0 bistro distance themselves immediately.
