“Contact Zones”: The second edition of the Rua Viva Award spans the city.

Exhibitions, films, meetings, and readings will be held in three key locations in Naples' historic center—the Sala Sole on Rua Catalana, Arcigay Napoli on Vico San Geronimo, and Antonio Conte's Piccola Galleria Resistente on Vico Santa Maria a Lanzati—for an edition that connects places, people, and artistic practices.

The 2026 Rua Viva Award offers an annual program of events that intertwines contemporary art, literature, cinema, and photography, spanning iconic locations in Naples' historic center.

The aim of the Award is to generate real connections, opportunities for interaction, and spaces for proximity between artists, communities, and diverse audiences.

Contact Zones, born as a call for proposals, has over time taken the form of an open device, capable of welcoming whatever resonates with the stratification of the contexts in which it is inserted.

The call for applications for the 2026 Rua Viva Award – Contact Zones, published on the Association's website (www.associazioneviva.it), opened on December 15, 2025.

The first event is scheduled for May 23rd at the Sala Sole (Vico Freddo a Rua Catalana n. 4), home of the Taverna ETS cultural association, directed by playwright Sara Sole Notarbartolo, with the screening of the film Il Laboratorio, dedicated to the Avella–Sgambati art printing house and directed by Pasquale Napolitano.

The film recounts the radical choice of Vittorio Avella, an engraver and artist, who put his knowledge at the service of the work of others, founding an art printing house with Antonio Sgambati as a space for collective production, beyond an individual signature.

On June 6, at the ARCI Gay Antinoo headquarters (Vico San Geronimo), the Award continues with Frizioni, a photographic exhibition by Ernestina Scalfari, accompanied by a presentation, curated by Claudio Finelli, of the book Come Cristo in Croce by Antonio Esposito.

The project takes a political, not ideological, stance, making visible a concrete tension between people and institutions linked to the experiences of migrants and opening a specific focus on LGBTQ+ migrants, highlighting the forms of exclusion related to their experiences.

From September 19th to 26th, the Sala Sole will host the awards ceremony and exhibition of the finalists of the Rua Viva Prize 2026 – Contact Zones.

The program concludes in the last week of October at Antonio Conte's Piccola Galleria Resistente (Vico Santa Maria a Lanzati 23), with the presentation of the solo exhibition of the winner of the 2026 Rua Viva Prize. The meeting, curated by Artestesa, will be accompanied by readings of poetry by Giorgio Anastasia and Laura De Masi.

The Rua Viva Prize is configured as a device in constant contact with the places it passes through, capable of activating shared presences, practices, and times, without settling into a definitive form.

A route that begins on Rua Catalana and extends through the historic center of Naples as a living practice of crossing.

The Rua Viva Award is curated by Federico Adriano Borreca.
