Europride Rome 2011: A float in Rome: pride against precariousness

Tomorrow, Saturday 9 April, a Europride Roma 2011 float will participate in the demonstration called by networks of precarious workers, young people and professionals Our time is now (www.ilnostrotempoeadesso.it).

The visible presence of gays, lesbians, and transgender people at the march, two months before the European LGBT Pride rally on June 11, is a contribution to a battle that must involve everyone.

From this perspective, gay, lesbian, and transgender Italians are victims of job insecurity, just like millions of young Italian workers. Gay and lesbian Italians also face the added burden of legally denied relationships, the precariousness of their dignity, vilified by stereotypes and prejudices, and the precariousness of unrecognized citizenship.

Gay, lesbian, and transgender people are a resource for this country, which refuses to acknowledge the dignity of their relationships and their lives. Our paucity of rights impoverishes the country.

For this reason, the time to say enough is now, together with all Italian citizens whom we invite to take to the streets and who will be able to engage directly with us on the Europride Roma 2011 float.

The meeting is at 3 pm in Piazza della Repubblica in Rome.
