[:it]Bologna, November 30, 2017 – #SoQuelloCheFaccio (www.arcigay.it/soquellochefaccio) is Arcigay's 2017 social media campaign for World AIDS Day. The campaign, created thanks to the personal involvement of Arcigay activists, is aimed at MSM (men who have sex with men). #SoQuelloCheFaccio invites men who have sex with men to inform themselves and choose the prevention tools best suited to them, being aware of the pros and cons of the choices they make, in terms of preventing both HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. The campaign is based on the assumption that people, if adequately informed, can make choices in order to experience sexuality and sex in the way that best suits them. "Sexual health is not just the absence of sexual diseases, but also overall well-being in life and sexual pleasure," explains Michele Breveglieri, head of Health and the fight against HIV at Arcigay, "and the more informed you are, the better able you are to decide how to best live your sexual life by adopting all the possible tools available to reduce risks or harm." The campaign focuses on nine topics: the use of condoms and lubricants during anal sex, frequent access to HIV testing, the use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), the principle of treatment as prevention (TasP), access to post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), eliminating irrational fears about people with HIV, the call not to rely on questions about a partner's HIV status, access to screening and/or vaccinations for STIs other than HIV, and the call to get HIV tested regularly, even when in a relationship. "The campaign gives communicative substance, for the first time in a comprehensive way, to Arcigay's choice to adopt a combined prevention approach," Breveglieri continues. "Prevention today has many faces, and it's important to understand them to orient oneself and make informed choices." "Knowledge and awareness are also essential to rid ourselves of unnecessary irrational fears and stigmatizing behaviors that help no one and, in fact, only facilitate the epidemic," he concludes. Alongside the #SoQuelloCheFaccio campaign, Arcigay also has two parallel initiatives underway: one for the free distribution of condoms throughout Italy through its 67 member associations and thanks to the collaboration with COOP Italia which has provided free condoms from its “Fallo Protetto” line, and the “WE TEST” campaign offering rapid and free HIV tests in various Italian cities by the association's volunteers to the gay community, at the association's offices and in collaboration with ANDDOS, PLUS, IREOS, Circolo Mario Mieli, ASA Onlus (to see where: www.we-test-rapid.org).[:]
