Today, the Municipality of Pavia informs us that it has granted patronage to Arcigay Pavia for the Diversity Festival, which will be held on June 3, 2012, in Piazza Vittoria, starting at 3:00 PM.
This brings to an end a tense standoff that began on May 23 with the communication to the Arcigay Pavia association of the Council's decision not to grant patronage to Arcigay Pavia (although it is ready to grant it to any other requesting association).

We thank the gay community of Pavia, civil society, and the associations working on diversity who have made their voices heard and shown their support for the association and myself in recent days." Giuseppe Polizzi, founding member of Arcigay Pavia, stated: "Now is the time to work to ensure that similar things never happen again. June 3rd will be a celebration of all of Pavia's diversity and will be enriched by a great movement of solidarity. Many associations working on diversity will be waiting for the citizens to join them in a strong embrace of equality and justice.".
