The statements
Marco Arlati, Sports delegate in the Arcigay national secretariat, he stated: “I thank all the participants in this initiative and Marco Riva, President of CONI Lombardia, for his presence and the collaborative work between Arcigay and CONI, which has been continuously evolving and strengthening for years. This year too, we received many nominations, demonstrating how the sports world is moving forward and taking a stand for civil rights against homolesbobitransphobia. However, we must once again emphasize the lack of coming out, especially in the male sports world of Italy, which demonstrates how difficult it is and, above all, how athletes don't feel safe in being able to do so freely. This year, the project is part of a broader collaboration that encompasses Pride Sport Milano and the sports arena, as well as the launch of the 2026 Olympic Pride House. I strongly believe that sport, along with families and schools, are the social spaces where a person is educated not only to respect, but also to value, diversity.
Marco Riva, President of CONI Lombardia, added: “I thank Marco Arlati, Arcigay and all the guests present. For us it is essential to build projectsI thank Marco Arlati, everyone who works with Arcigay, and the guests present. It's essential for us to "build projects" in the world of sports to spread the values of inclusion and respect against all forms of hatred and discrimination. Seeing the applications we've received, I'm delighted to see the sporting organizations and worthy individuals who work throughout the year to deliver important messages and concrete actions. The Italy on the Field Against Homolesbian and Transphobia AWARDS is a powerful project, and I hope it continues to grow. Congratulations to all the winners and to this splendid setting, the Pride Sport Arena, which brings sport to everyone in the heart of Milan. Let's ensure that the Olympic values of friendship, respect, and excellence live on, embodying the Olympic motto: "Faster, Higher, Stronger, TOGETHER" to build a better world through sport.“.
