“Let us Be AdvoQueers: a lesson in advocacy in Arcigay Rete Donne Transfemminista” is a project promoted by Arcigay Rete Donne Transfemminista and funded by EL*C (EuroCentral Asian Lesbian Community) as part of the “Resourcing Lesbian* Movements in Europe” fund.

THE PROJECT: ACTIONS AND OBJECTIVES

The project "Let us Be advoQueers: an advocacy lesson at Arcigay Rete Donne Transfemminista" includes advanced training and advocacy activities on transfeminist issues. The aim is to strengthen the technical and political skills of institutional representation for both activists within Arcigay Rete Donne Transfemminista and activists working within the various Women's Groups of Arcigay's local committees and interested in national activism for the promotion of gender policies, lesbian visibility*, and sensitivity to transfeminist issues, in accordance with European Union standards and requirements. The peer-to-peer training and empowerment activities envisaged by the project aim to enhance the skills of those who will contribute to the growth of Arcigay Rete Donne Transfemminista not only today but also in the future. These are LGBTQ+ activists from across Italy who are committed to consciously and strategically promoting the adoption of LGBTQ+ agendas at the national, regional, and local levels in Italy.

The project is being conducted in two phases: in the first phase, the activists will participate in distance learning (via a distance learning platform); in the second phase, they will participate in local events organized by macro-area.

The events will take place on the following dates and cities:

  • September 28 – Modena
  • October 19 – Siena
  • November 16 – Catania

The project also includes a final meeting to present the entire process, open to the public. One of the project's outputs will also be presented: a Toolkit on some advocacy strategies and practices used by the Italian LGBTQ+ movement, with a specific focus on the experience gained at Arcigay Rete Donne Transfemminista.
