Massimo Oldrini has passed away. ARCIGAY expresses its condolences: "We owe him so much gratitude."“

Bologna, January 21, 2025 – “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Massimo Oldrini, a longtime LILA activist, who was president of LILA Milan for many years, and then of the national association,” said Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay. He continues: “Massimo, in the 1990s, was among the first in Italy to go public with his HIV status, and since then he has tirelessly dedicated himself to fighting the pandemic and combating the stigma with which society targeted—and still targets—people like him. We owe so much to Massimo and all the people who lived through those years and those battles: we all owe an enormous debt of gratitude to that generation of activists. And today we want to say that heartfelt thank you, so that this occasion is not just a farewell, but a moment of celebration. And so that Massimo's story becomes a tale capable of enlightening future generations. With great affection, we send our embrace to Massimo's family, to the president of LILA, Giusi Giupponi, and to the entire association which today mourns the loss of an extraordinary person,” concludes Piazzoni.
