HOMOPHOBIA: QUARTERLY rallies in Rome and Milan to protest against the Sultan of Brunei

*HOMOPHOBIA, PROTESTS TOMORROW IN ROME AND MILAN AGAINST THE SULTAN OF BRUNEI* *Bologna, 13 April 2019* – “The radicalization of Koranic law in Brunei, which provides for stoning for adultery and homosexual acts, represents the restoration of medieval codes, therefore an unacceptable violation of human rights and an attack on modernity.”: thus Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay. He continues: "Political inaction on these issues has not only allowed homosexuality to continue to be criminalized in many countries, but has also given fanatics like the Sultan of Brunei the green light to add his country to the list of places where homosexuality is persecuted and condemned. For a country to introduce the death penalty for homosexuals or adulterers in 2019 should shock the international community and provoke a strong and determined reaction, prompting Brunei to repeal this measure. We cannot turn a blind eye and pretend nothing is happening. This is why we wholeheartedly support the international boycott of the Sultanate of Brunei's economic activities, and on Sunday, April 14, we will hold a protest in front of the Hotel Eden in Rome and the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, both owned by the Sultan. We will not give our money to those who want to stone us," he concludes. Both protests will take place at 7:00 PM.
