Pride Wave, parades tomorrow in Bergamo, Dolo, Genoa, and Rome, and Sunday in Novara. Piazzoni (Arcigay): "Record number of demonstrations in Italy, words are no longer enough."“

Bologna, June 10, 2022This weekend, the rainbow-colored Wave Pride, a major demonstration in support of LGBTQ+ rights, will pass through five cities. Tomorrow, the gathering will take place in Bergamo (gathering at 1 PM in Piazzale Marconi), Dolo (at 5 PM in Viale dello Sport), Genoa (at 3 PM in Via San Benedetto), and Rome (at 3:30 PM in Piazza della Repubblica). On Sunday, a march will take place in Novara (at 4 PM in Largo Pastore). "The Pride Month mobilization continues," says Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay, "with five new events of protest and pride. We demonstrate with determination and the conviction that we are waging battles that benefit everyone. This year's nearly fifty Italian pride parades, a record in Europe, are the counterweight to the political stalemate. There is a rights emergency in Italy that affects LGBTQI+ people and all discriminated against social groups. I want to emphasize this: it is an emergency that causes loneliness, fragility, violence, abandonment, and obstacles. Let's face it as we face all other emergencies, with our eyes fixed on measuring results. Words have not been enough for a long time," concludes Piazzoni.
