Arcigay boycotts Chef Cappuccio. Piazzoni: "The swastika isn't rebellion; it's a symbol of extermination. Boycotting is peaceful resistance."“
July 12, 2025 – The’Pride Wave, the large demonstration in support of the rights of LGBTQIA+ people organised by Arcigay and other local and national associations, continues today with five processions: The Caltagirone Pride will meet at 6pm in Piazza Risorgimento; for the La Spezia Pride the meeting is at 5pm in Piazza Brin; Lecce Salento Pride has set the gathering at the “Giuseppe Garibaldi” public gardens at 4.30pm; for the Lipari Aeolian Pride meeting in the Market Square at 6.30pm; finally, for the’Ostia Lazio Pride Gathering at the Lido station square at 5pm.
“While today we color Italy with five Pride parades - he declares Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay, we cannot remain silent about the wave of hatred unleashed in recent days by chef Paolo Cappuccio. His job advertisement, which explicitly excluded people with "sexual orientation issues," and therefore non-heterosexuals, is not a "slip-up": it is neo-fascist propaganda trivializing crimes against humanity, perpetrated by a man who flaunts tattoos of Mussolini and a swastika, calling them "rebellion." The swastika is not a symbol of freedom, but the emblem of regimes that exterminated millions of people, including homosexuals, Jews, Roma, and dissidents. This is why we have called for a boycott of his restaurant and all establishments that dare glorify Nazi-Fascist symbols. Boycotting is not violence: it is an act of peaceful resistance, a clear signal that no business can thrive on disregard for human dignity," concludes Piazzoni.
