Onda Pride, two marches today in Syracuse and Varese. Arcigay member Piazzoni: "Pride marches are a demonstration of dignity against Italy's international isolation on LGBTQIA+ rights."“

July 19, 2025 There are two parades today in Onda Pride, the large-scale demonstration in support of LGBTQIA+ rights promoted by Arcigay and other local and national associations. See you at Syracuse Pride at 6.30pm in Euripides Square and with the Varese Pride at 4pm in Piazza Monte Grappa.

“Italy – he declares Gabriele Piazzoni, Arcigay, general secretary, a few days ago rejected Article 73% of the UN recommendations on LGBTQIA+ rights, aligning itself with the illiberal regimes of Viktor Orbán and Poland. Twelve "no" votes out of nineteen international requests is an infamous record: equal marriage, adoptions for same-sex couples, recognition of lesbian parenthood, protection of intersex minors, mandatory sex education, and a ban on reparative therapies were all rejected. Pride marches are a bastion of dignity against Italy's international isolation on LGBTQIA+ rights, and today's, in particular, are our response to this affront to civilization: we take to the streets to denounce a government that is turning Italy into a fortress of homolesbobitransphobia. We have become Europe's last resort, while other countries hold us accountable for our human rights violations. From the squares of Syracuse and Varese, we send a message to the world: the real Italy is anti-fascist, inclusive, and supportive. Let's continue to fight so that there will never be second-class people,‘ concludes Piazzoni.
