Bologna, August 9, 2025 – The Pride Wave, the large-scale demonstration in support of LGBTQIA+ rights promoted by Arcigay and other local and national organizations, reaches one of its most special days today: today marks the "Paesello Pride" event, organized between Cammarata and San Giovanni Gemini, in the Agrigento province. Meet at 5:00 PM in Piazzale Camilleri for the parade that will pass through the two towns, demonstrating the widespread LGBTQIA+ mobilization in Italy.

“"This year," says Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay, "a total of 59 Pride events have been organized from April to September, breaking all historical records in our country. Some important data: seven of the scheduled Pride events have taken place or will take place in towns with fewer than 30,000 inhabitants: Enna, Dolo, Favignana, Lipari, Omegna, Sondrio, and Cammarata-San Giovanni Gemini. "This double Pride event between Cammarata and San Giovanni Gemini, in two towns with a combined population of less than 15,000, is a powerful signal, a silent revolution. In small towns and suburbs, homo-lesbian-transphobia is fought in the intimacy of everyday relationships: between parents who challenge prejudices in the school cafeteria, students who organize school assemblies, and people who are working to break decades of invisibility. The seven small-town Pride events of Onda 2025 tell the story of an Italy that refuses to give up: they are acts of courage and true pride, without million-dollar budgets or institutional sponsors. Here, every flag waved in the square changes the history of a community forever. Today, we dedicate this parade to all the people in these small towns who are fighting to be themselves,“ concludes Piazzoni.
