WAVE PRIDE, TOSCANA PRIDE IN LUCCA TODAY. PIAZZONI (ARCIGAY) TO THE PRIME MINISTER: "WE WANT TO HEADS HELD HIGH, NOT IN SURREALITY. OUR PRIDE IS THE OPPOSITE OF YOUR SHAME."“

Bologna, September 7, 2024 – Tuscany Pride is coming to Lucca today, part of Onda Pride, the large-scale demonstration in support of LGBTQ+ rights organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations. The parade will gather at 4:00 PM in Piazzale Risorgimento.

“After these days of profound embarrassment for our country, transformed into the theatre of a squalid soap opera full of lies, it is really time to start talking about pride again.”: he declared Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay. He continues: "It would be far too easy to gloss over this affair of the minister opening the doors of the ministry to his girlfriend of the moment with a joke about supporters of the traditional family. Too easy, too convenient. The problem is much bigger: we were ashamed of Giambruno's off-camera remarks, of the minister stopping trains, of the New Year's Eve party with a gun, of the wiretaps of Minister Santanché, indicted for fraud against the INPS, that is, the State, of the paintings of Vittorio Sgarbi, also under investigation. And in this infamous list, we must not leave out the Roman salutes, the gaffes, the slips, the sheepish outbursts, the bullying behavior. In less than three years, Giorgia Meloni's government has plunged us into the deepest shame. So, truly, let's go back to talking about pride, about the free people who today in Lucca will take to the streets not to pocket a privilege—a work of art, a luxury beach, a freebie vacation—but to guarantee "Everyone has an extra right. Let's talk about pride, dignity, and Pride, because they are the opposite of shame. Mrs. Meloni, you've always stigmatized us, yet look at us, we walk the streets with our heads held high, we don't use emergency exits to overlook our actions, our desires, our responsibilities. We desire and love in the open, without lies and without shame. And it is precisely our pride today that allows us to shrug off the embarrassment and squalor of these past weeks," concludes Piazzoni.
