WAVE PRIDE, THE LAST PROCESSION IN AOSTA TODAY. PIAZZONI (ARCIGAY): "MILLIONS OF PEOPLE JOINED US IN THE SQUARES IN THIS RECORD-BREAKING YEAR WITH 62 PRIDE PROCESSIONS IN ITALY."“

Bologna, October 12, 2024 – The last meeting is scheduled for today of the Pride Wave, the large demonstration in support of the rights of LGBTQIA+ people organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations. See you at Aosta at 2.30 pm with the procession departing from Piazza della Repubblica.

“Today marks the end of a historic era for our community and our country,” declared Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay. He continues: "This year, our Wave has brought 62 Pride marches to the streets, an extraordinary, impressive number, never before achieved in Europe. A number that better than many words describes the mobilization of a community reacting to the right-wing attack on the government. Millions of people in recent months have taken to the streets with us to defend the freedoms and rights that Giorgia Meloni's government wants to deny. And while we marched with our heads held high in the streets, the governing majority reluctantly showed us the disaster of the traditional family, that of harassment in off-camera and of lovers who rebel against the blackmail of power. We, our families, all different, can still defend them with our heads held high, in their honesty and in their complete freedom. So I say thank you to all the people who have taken to the streets in recent months, filling our Pride marches, and to those who will celebrate the end of this wave today by marching through the streets of Aosta. We have traveled 62 stages together that will lead us, we are certain, out of this dark tunnel of our history." politics.“, concludes Piazzones.
