Bologna, September 28, 2024 – Vesuvio Pride will take place today in Torre del Greco (Naples), marking the latest stage of Onda Pride, the major demonstration in support of LGBTQ+ rights organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations. The gathering is scheduled for 5:00 PM on Via Comizi. "A Pride that embraces the entire Torre del Greco community," says Gabriele Piazzoni, general secretary of Arcigay, "which is mourning the loss of Ciro, the very young student who a few days ago, at just 16 years old, lost his life at school in a leap into the void, a matter still under investigation. The idea that it could have been a deliberate act challenges us all and calls our attention: something in the world around him may have rejected him, violently. And we are all responsible for that world around us. Pride is, in this sense, a gesture of great responsibility on the part of a community, a very concrete way of working to improve those worlds that sometimes oppress the most vulnerable.
