IV European Conference Lesbian*: why now and why Rome.

The choice of the capital city Rome for this edition of the European Conference Lesbian*, after Vienna (2017), Kiev (2019) and Budapest (2022) is significant. Italy is ato “under special observation” because in the eyes of the world it appears more and more as a political laboratory of the reactionary right And conservative where they are tested devices repressive And discriminatory against minorities sexual, exactly as happened in Hungary and as is happening in Trump's United States. For this very reason, from Rome, the resistance starts of the lesbian community* determined to make its voice heard.

The presentation conference was attended by Also party representatives and from the institutions including Marta Bonafoni (Democratic Party), Alessandra Maiorino (Five Star Movement), Benedetta Scuderi (MEP, Greens), Marilena Grassadonia (Italian Left), Francesca Druetti (Possible) and Riccardo Magi (+Europe).

“We chose Rome for this fourth edition of our Conference because today it is a city at the forefront of the fight for lesbian rights in Europe.”, said Silvia Casalino, Co-Executive Director of EL*C. “"Our visibility is revolutionary. Through the Conference, we will build lesbian networks, advocacy strategies for justice, and transnational solidarity to resist attacks. that we receive and strengthen our collective power. THEThe EL*C Conference will take place in Rome lesbian activists coming from fromll'’Europe and Central Asia, courageous leaders who continue to fight in an increasingly dangerous and unpredictable world, defending women, LGBT peopleQIA+* and civil society as a whole.” said Silvia Casalino, Co-Executive Director of EL*C.
