Arcigay, on the occasion of the primaries called by the Democratic Party and SeL, distributed a questionnaire to candidates to understand how those who propose to govern the country intend to finally find a solution to the homosexual and transgender issue.
Arcigay asked candidates whether they support or oppose the passage of a law on same-sex marriage (including adoption), the repeal of Law 40, the authorization of medically assisted fertilization for same-sex couples, and the reinstatement of sex education in schools.
Arcigay also asks candidates numerous questions regarding "gay parenthood," such as whether or not they support the recognition of stepchild adoption, which is the adoption of a partner's child by same-sex couples.
Candidates are also being asked to address the issues of homophobia and transphobia, demanding a clear commitment to extending the so-called Mancino Law to sexual orientation and gender identity and to establishing a national observatory for cases of violence against the LGBT community. Finally, Arcigay's requests to candidates are detailed regarding the health of the gay and transgender population. The association asks, for example, that candidates take a stand on the widespread use of condoms in public places, reducing the stigma surrounding HIV-positive people, and ensuring access to HIV/AIDS testing.
Results will be available on December 28th. Candidates are asked to complete the questionnaire at https://www.arcigay.it/39018/pd_sel_sondaggio/ by December 27th.
