Schools, Arcigay joins the "1 Hour of Love" campaign. Romani: "Prejudice is being fought in classrooms."“

Bologna, April 24, 2014 – Arcigay has joined to the “1 hour of love” campaign”  in support of the proposed law to establish sentimental education in schools. "For over 10 years," comments Arcigay President Flavio Romani, "our association has been implementing methodical and persistent efforts in schools to educate on diversity and train teaching and non-teaching staff on the issues of discrimination, bullying, and sexual education. An hour of love, that is, the establishment of an hour of love education in schools, would therefore not only represent the dutiful fulfillment of one of the actions envisaged by the Istanbul Convention, but also the implementation of an effort that the network of associations has long been producing, in the belief that schools are the focal point where a culture of stereotypes is reproduced, one that generates prejudice, and therefore discrimination and acts of hatred. Equipping students with the tools to live their emotional spring serenely and fully, providing them with the places and opportunities for transparent and healthy discussion about their feelings and desires, means not only making a concrete bet on the future of those generations, but also sabotaging that culture of double standards and behind-the-scenes situations in which minors often become victims of adults' cunning.".
