Awards will also be given in the outdoor, sports journalism, and—as of this year—corporate social reporting categories. Deadline is May 19th, with awards ceremonies June 1st.

Bologna, May 6, 2024 Arcigay is launching the third edition of the "Italia in campo contro l'omolesbobitransfobia Awards 2024," the award that annually recognizes virtuous examples of commitment and the fight against discrimination in sports. "We conceived this," explains Marco Arlati, sports delegate in Arcigay's national secretariat, "to combat all forms of hatred and discrimination in the world of sport, which is the most suitable environment for promoting education, respect, inclusion, and friendship. We strongly believe that, together with families and schools, sport is the social sphere where a person is taught not only to respect but, above all, to value differences, which are sought out and valued." Applications are already open for the competition's five established categories: athlete, sports club, fans, sports journalist, and outdoor. A sixth category, new this year, has been added: the social balance sheet of sports clubs. Applications must be submitted by May 19th to [email protected], accompanied by press reviews or supporting documentation. The committee responsible for judging the nominations is composed of the Arcigay Sport Nazionale group, the 28 Italian LGBTQI+ sports groups, and the Arcigay Milano-Cortina 2026 Commission. On Saturday, May 25, all those responsible for judging will meet in Rimini, hosted by Arcigay Rimini and the La Comunity 27 beach resort, for an LGBTQI+ beach volleyball tournament. The committee's vote will be supplemented by that of the public, who, from May 20 to 26, will be able to cast their votes on the website www.arcigaysport.it. The 2024 Awards ceremony will take place on June 1st at 10:00 a.m. in the CONI Lombardia council chamber, where the training session on the topic "Intersex Athletes at the Olympics" will also be held. The 2023 Awards were won by Giorgio Minisini (athlete), Juventus (club), Alessandra De Stefano (sports journalist), Lazio Libertas aps (fans), and Runaway Milano aps (outdoors). The 2022 winners were Claudio Marchisio (athlete), Juventus (club), Francesca Fagnani (journalist), and Pazzi di Rugby (fans).
