Dear President Fini,
As you will well remember, We met on May 13th, together with other homosexual associations, a few days before the International Day Against Homophobia.
On that occasion, as Arcigay we had introduced her the updated report on cases of homophobic violence that occurred in Italy and emerged in the press in 2008 and 2009 and we asked her to act as a stimulus in Parliament to urge urgent legislative intervention on a law that protects LGBT people from homophobic violence.
If you read the same dossier today, you will be able to see how even in these few months, the terrible episodes of aggression, insults, bullying and homicide have not stopped, but rather in 2009 we can already see a worrying increase.
In light of the commitment you made on that occasion, let us now return, three days after the brutal episode in Rome, to to urge his firm intervention to send a very clear signal to all parliamentary groups: that a law to protect the safety of LGBT people can no longer be postponed.
Aurelio Mancuso, national president of Arcigay
