Arcigay appeals after Storace's outburst.

While Bologna was remembering the homosexual victims of Nazi-Fascist racism, Federale Storace once again announced his next racial campaign: de facto couples would be removed from the Lazio family law, to avoid paying for "the vices of those who are different" with the money of Lazio citizens.

'It is worth remembering that the law proposed by Badaloni does not reserve any favors for homosexual couples, limiting itself to intervening on families in the case of the presence of third parties in care (children, elderly parents): only in this case the law, as would be obvious in a civilized country, does not distinguish between married and unmarried couples, nor does it discriminate against couples based on sexual orientation.
The fascist Storace, therefore, knowingly lies when he claims that the law would grant public housing to homosexuals because they are homosexuals. His plan is as clear as it is odious: to unleash a new racial hatred against gays and lesbians by appealing to the worst instincts of right-wing voters, to curry favor with them.

There's been much talk in recent days about a segment of the gay electorate shifting its vote to the right. It's true: many homosexuals identify the defense of civil rights and individual liberties with the liberal tradition rather than the socialist one. But what's liberal about this racist and homophobic right, born of a liberticidal tradition and a corporatist conception of the state, allied with a monopolistic capitalist and the xenophobic particularism of the League? Only "Stockholm syndrome" or a masochistic delusion could motivate a vote for the House of Freedoms today.

'This is the time, therefore, for a strong and clear appeal to all homosexual and transgender people, and to those who care about their rights. Every vote for the center-right is a vote against us: let's reverse that ancient fate that sees us oppressed by guilt and punishing ourselves. The left-wing and center-left parties have lined up, nominating gay, lesbian, and transgender candidates: Grillini, De Simone, Silvestri, Vendola, Menzione, and Di Folco are just a few among many. Let's not waste this opportunity.

And if anyone just can't bring themselves to vote for the center-left or the left, remember Luca Coscioni, candidate for the Bonino List, whose fight for freedom of stem cell research, currently blocked by clerical vetoes, is part of the common battle against Vatican interference in Italian politics.
