Pedophile priests and the Vatican's ambiguities

It is grave and unbearable to see homosexuality, violence, and pedophilia once again equated in the context of the scandal involving pedophile priests and sexual abusers within the Catholic Church.

It is widely known that the vast majority of cases of child abuse occur at the hands of heterosexuals and very often within the home.

Clearly, in the case of violence committed by Catholic priests, the scenario cannot be anything other than different, but this in no way authorizes the Vatican to spread indiscriminate and generalizing considerations that systematically equate pedophilia with homosexuality, violence committed against defenseless children, and what the World Health Organization defines as a "natural variant of human sexuality" and which has no more to do with episodes of violence against adults or minors than heterosexuality does.

It is the professional responsibility of anyone involved in communication and information to ensure that social and cultural prejudices based on lies and injustice are not unnecessarily fueled.
