In Genoa, on October 1, 2002, "L'APPRODO, ARCIGAY GENOVA" was founded, an association affiliated with ARCIGAY, and therefore with ARCI, founded by gays and lesbians from Genoa and open to everyone, homosexuals and heterosexuals from all over Liguria.
The association is a non-profit, voluntary social solidarity organization. It was initially born out of the need to coordinate all the volunteers who in recent years have worked to stimulate the deepening and diffusion of cultural initiatives on homosexual issues at the municipal, provincial, and regional levels, and to develop a proactive and constructive culture on issues of difference, particularly those related to sexual orientation. The organization's initial goal was to to offer homosexuals in the Liguria region a meeting place for growth and development, a place for discussion and discussion.
Today, the ARCIGAY GENOVA L'Approdo association is actively committed to promoting the right to physical and psychological health among the gay population, giving the Ligurian gay community a voice in institutions and society. It is a democratic, non-violent, anti-racist association that promotes freedom while fully respecting everyone's rights and the equal integration of all men and women without discrimination based on their sexual orientation.
We want to respond to the discomfort that homosexual people still experience in our society due to the discrimination and intolerance to which they are exposed on a daily basis with a ""landing"", intended not only as a point of arrival and welcome, but also as starting point for rebuilding a positive self-image and find the psychological and social tools to face the world around us.
The association is made up of people who believe in promoting visibility as a tool for personal and societal growth, and who believe in solidarity and free service.
On November 7, 2005, at the Annual Members' Meeting, it was decided to transform the Club into a Provincial Committee, in accordance with the National Council's recommendations. From that moment on, the Committee, as there were no other Clubs in Liguria, all Arcigay members residing in the Region belong to it, and those who decide to join even if they are not residents.
