Padova Pride Village: A Celebration for Everyone

  

 

Fifth edition of Padua Pride Village, one of the most important events of the Venetian summer, as well as the largest LGBT summer event in Northern Italy, which will take place from July 6th to September 2nd within the space of the Padua fair. The everyone's party is strong from the success of the past seasons with the over one hundred thousand visitors reached in 2011.

Padova Pride Village is organized by Tralaltro Arcigay Padua Circle in collaboration with PadovaFiere Spa., under the patronage of Province of Padua, Municipality of Padua, and with the support of the Padua Tourism Promotion Consortium. A new element is the presence of Ben & Jerry's, international ice cream brand, as main sponsor and supporter of the national campaign “Once and for All”, promoted and coordinated by Padova Pride Village, in support of the proposed law for the legal recognition of civil unions in Italy (www.unavoltapertutti.it). The local presentation of the Festival and the campaign was hosted by journalist Concita De Gregorio who launches a provocation from the hall of PadovaFiere “I'm here because I'm part of Rosa Parks An association that has decided to approach the issue of civil rights from an economic perspective. Good economic practices are often more useful and effective than ethical projects. This campaign is “worthwhile” and I am certain of its success. At the end of the signature collection carried out by the Padova Pride Village we will be able to say we were right.”

This fifth edition of the festival confirms and consolidates the qualities that led to its success: a clever mix of culture and entertainment, concerts and DJ sets which will follow one another every week from Tuesday to Sunday with many free entry evenings and others to a deliberately low cost To allow everyone to face the current economic crisis without giving up fun, socializing, and cultural enrichment.

The big one opening Of Friday, July 6th will feature the comedy of Piero Chiambretti and of the inimitable Gabriella Germani, who will be responsible for the burden, together with the Honorable Paola Concia to cut the ribbon at the Village and seal the campaign Once and for All.

Saturday, July 7th, with the documentary Angels on Death Row The Ebrahim Hamidi's Case by Alessandro Golinelli and Rocco Bernini (Italy 2011, 55') will also start the appointment of Cinevillage which will be shown every Saturday night a wide selection of Italian and foreign films. Following, as per tradition, the double appointment with the dance on the Boulevard and inside the Palavillage with the resident DJs of the Padova Pride Village. It will close the first three days of the festival in style. everyone's party, Sunday, July 8th, Paul Rossi with the show Evening of Dishonor, Unauthorized Autobiography, from comic and tragic monologues to songs that have highlighted the vices of Italy over the last twenty years.

“"What began five years ago as a party among friends has now transformed into a large gay-friendly event, but not only that. The Padova Pride Village is a great moment of welcome for the city and the region," he explained. Padova Pride Village is synonymous with great live music. Rossana Casale and Tosca, Arisa, Donatella Rector, Alice, Rich and Poor, Antonella Ruggiero, Julian Palma & The Bluebeaters And Ornella Vanoni, are just some of the artists who will perform live on stage to the delight of the fans, who are expected in large numbers as always. The artistic direction is curated by Stefano Mascagni And Roberto Piana followed a very specific invitation “I asked the artists to show their faces and they immediately joined with such enthusiasm that for many the festival became one of the exclusive dates of their tours” explains Mascagni himself.

From the July 10th The Padova Pride Village program will be in full swing, confirming some regular events that had already been well received by the public in previous editions.

Accompanying all the evenings could not be missed the unmistakable voice of Loredana Forleo, official speaker of “Radio Village”, this year joined by Giusva And Leonardo.

They are back Tuesday of the festival dedicated to talk show with insights into major current issues in the company of the voices and faces of the media, culture and entertainment. To consolidate the rich lineup of the previous editions, the prestigious protagonists of this year, including Paola Marella, Alessandro Cecchi Paone, Leopold Mastelloni and many others. An evening of debates and infotainment.

The Wednesday and Thursday will be dedicated to cabaret and theater. This year, the Padova Pride Village will have the honor of hosting top-level artists such as, among others, Francesca Reggiani, Anna Mazzamauro, Anna Meacci, The Dolls And David Rondino.

The Friday and Saturday evenings are all about fun at the Padova Pride Village. Friday boulevard will be populated by glittering Drag Queens who will liven up the evening with shows and dancing to the rhythm of disco music played on the two dance floors set up in the Boulevard and in the Palavillage. As every year, the unmissable final of Miss Drag Queen Veneto 2012 will crown the best. Saturday evening the best DJs on the national scene will get the crowd going until late at night.

The event is back again this year Village Talent, a music and entertainment talent competition that has enjoyed great success in previous editions. New for the 2012 edition is the presence of an exceptional patron: the star Queen bee.

The Padova Pride Village don't forget the culture and information dedicated to the LGBTQ world. In addition to the Cinevillage every Saturday night, The Tralaltro Arcigay Padua Circle, as every year, will host in its stand during All week long, debates, book presentations and shows addressing issues dear to the gay world: new families, the relationship between faith and homosexuality, transsexuality, gender literature, sexually transmitted diseases and their prevention. The Circle's volunteers will also be available to provide information to anyone who requests it.

This year, the Village has also chosen to revamp its food offerings: new dining areas, offering delicious meat specialties and pizza, to be enjoyed comfortably seated, and cicchetteria and osteria for quick and refined snacks. A completely new food and wine offering to experience and savor. And there will also be... the ice cream shop of Ben & Jerry's (www.benjerry.it) which will offer all its exclusive services to the festival guests flavors that have made the brand famous throughout the world. For the chill out five drink areas, where you can sip aperitifs and cocktails in complete relaxation.

Padova Pride Village 2012 is also voyage And discovery of the city which has been hosting the event for five years with a boat tour created exclusively for the event. An original journey between fun and culture on the waters of the Paduan canals, aboard the Queen Boat, leaving every Saturday from the ancient river port of Portello. Exceptional tourist guides will illustrate to visitors the history of Padua and the Republic of Venice from a new gay-friendly perspective. To top off the day on the water, an exquisite Brunch on board.
