Arcigay also participated in the demonstration against violence against women in Calabria.

Arcigay will also participate today in the "No to Violence" demonstration called by the Calabria Region. The event, scheduled in the wake of the report of the years-long rape of a sixteen-year-old girl from Melito Porto Salvo by a gang, aims to represent the entire population's firm reaction to the now widespread phenomenon of gender-based violence. "Violence and oppression against women," says Flavio Romani, president of Arcigay, "are rooted in the same machismo that leads to hatred and discrimination against gay, lesbian, and transgender people. It is an ancient and hateful phenomenon that must be eradicated from our society. This is why Arcigay is participating in today's demonstration in Reggio Calabria, to once again emphasize our support for the women's movement, in a struggle that can only be shared for the good of women and LGBT people, and which will lead to a better society for everyone, including men.".
