Arcigay Bergamo offers no concessions. Nicola Butta is re-elected: fewer bonuses, more rights.

Bergamo – Nicola Butta has been re-elected President of Arcigay Bergamo Cives. But this time, there's no celebratory tone or sugary press release.

Because here we're not celebrating a title, we're relaunching a battle.

“They gave us an honorable mention. Nice, thank you. Now they should tell us what they really intend to do for LGBTQIA+ people. Because plaques aren't enough to keep those sleeping alone warm. Nor to protect those who are kicked out of their homes.”

The tone of the conference? Direct, clear, and uncomfortable. As all activism should be.

A community that is no longer satisfied

The approved motion isn't about dreams, but about action. A new, permanent center, more services for trans people, real support for rainbow families, queer healthcare, radical education. And above all: spaces for freedom and self-determination, not empty representation.

“"We don't want to be invited into salons to please the institutions. We want to be listened to, respected, involved. Or we'll raise our voices. As always."”

Arcigay Bergamo Cives: politics made of bodies, not compromises. Butta and the new board are relaunching a clear vision for the association: a home for the fearful, a refuge for those in hiding, a megaphone for those unable to speak. And, if necessary, even a barricade.

“Arcigay isn't a flag to wave in June. It's a daily protest against hypocrisy, discrimination, and institutional neglect. And if anyone feels uncomfortable, perhaps now is the right time to start listening.”

The city is warned: pride in Bergamo isn't symbolic. It's political.
