Rights and Humanity: Antinoo Arcigay Napoli at Secondigliano Prison for a Christmas lunch with LGBTQIA+ inmates.

The association relaunches its commitment to the projects "Beyond the Wall" and "Over the Rainbow" in support of the LGBTQIA+ prison population.

Bringing warmth, dignity, and sisterhood to a place where too often the sense of isolation deepens and rights become peripheral, especially during the holidays. In this spirit, a delegation of Antinoo Arcigay Naples she went to the yesterday "Pasquale Mandato" Penitentiary Center in Secondigliano for a day dedicated to solidarity and sharing.

The delegation, composed of Rosa Rubino, Antonello Sannino, and Gina Piscitelli, met with the trans women detained in the facility, handing them warm overalls and makeup sets. Afterward, representatives of the association shared lunch first with the trans women inmates and then with the women in the prison's female section.

This initiative is part of a constant commitment that Antinoo Arcigay Napoli, together with the association Vesuvius Pride, has been carrying out for years. Thanks to the protocols “Beyond the Wall” And “Over the Rainbow”, several operators work daily both at the "G. Salvia" prison in Poggioreale and at the Secondigliano Penitentiary Center, to offer support and protection to LGBTQIA+ people in prison.

Antonello Sannino's statement

“The defense of democracy and the protection of the rule of law start from prisons and from all those places where the sense of humanity and the most basic rights need daily and constant care”, he declared Antonello Sannino, president of Antinoo Arcigay Naples. “Being here today is not just a Christmas ritual, but a reaffirmation of a political and social commitment: no one should be left alone, especially those experiencing double marginalization within the prison system.”

With this gesture, the association renews its call to institutions to maintain high levels of attention to prison living conditions throughout the year, ensuring inclusion and full respect for human dignity.
