Part on Pride Park, from Saturday 24th to Friday 30th June, at the Royal Hospice for the Poor – Palazzo Fuga in Piazza Carlo III, a symbol of the social and cultural rebirth of the city of Naples. A week of events, discussions, and debates on civil and human rights, in defense of the fundamental values of the Constitution.
All the events, which will culminate in the Pride demonstration on July 1st – whose presentation to the press will be held on June 29th at 5pm at the Albergo dei Poveri – were strongly desired by the Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, which has always supported the democratic values of inclusion and tolerance, freedom of expression, and respect for civil rights.
Six days packed with events to discuss civil liberties, labor, the fight against discrimination, education and culture, LGBTQI+ rights, and the history of the sexual liberation movement.
The Councillor for Equal Opportunities Emanuela Ferrante explains: "“I am extremely proud that this year the city of Naples stands out from all others by hosting not only the traditional Pride, but also the first "Pride Park," a long-running event featuring cultural, scientific, and educational events, addressing the lively debate on civil rights, in the splendid and symbolic setting of the Real Albergo dei Poveri. I invite everyone to reflect on the great and precious value that an event like Pride can convey to the entire social community, and not just to the LGBTQI+ community. Pride is a unique opportunity to address a social need that has become urgently needed: promoting a truly inclusive society, in which everyone, though different, is unique and at the same time equal in the recognition of fundamental civil rights. A society in which diversity is finally embraced and, above all, cultivated as a precious resource.”.
Many speakers will be present at the thematic conferences scheduled: from the writer Maurizio De Giovanni to the regional councilors Fortini and Morcone to the former President of the Chamber, Roberto Fico, but also Susanna Camusso, Ivan Scalfarotto, Emma Bonino, Roberto Speranza, Mara Carfagna. Obviously, many protagonists of the history of the local and national LGBTQI+ movement. But also a wealth of art, starting with exhibitions such as "L'isola degli arrusi," a photographic work by Luana Rigolli that recounts the exiled homosexuals on the Tremiti Islands during Fascism; the photography exhibition curated by Le Maree, "R/esistenze Viola: Fragments. Italy, from Sappho to the Lesbian Movement,"; the exhibition of the comic "Nero acciaio," written by Davide Bottiglieri and illustrated by Salvatore Parola; and the beautiful exhibition on gender toys curated by the Naples Toy Museum. During Pride Park, rapid, anonymous, and free tests for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis will be available at the Antinoo Arcigay Napoli Check Point; or information will be available at various association desks and anti-discrimination centers active in the metropolitan area. Plus, there's plenty of cinema and theater, as well as entertainment with drag shows, bingo, tambourines, folk music, Caribbean dances, and live music from many young artists, including the Pride Music Fest, now in its fourth year and scheduled for the evening of Saturday, June 24.
The Pride Park is organized by the Naples Pride Committee, Antinoo Arcigay Naples, The Tides ALFI Naples And Transgender Association Naples and from the’Culture Office of the Municipality of Naples, Naples City of Music And "“POPAP! -Popular Hotel for the Poor” with the support and membership of many other associations.
