The Verona City Council's desire for the Middle Ages periodically resurfaces. TWO CAMPAIGNS IN VIEW OF THE MOTIONS PRESENTED IN VERONA AGAINST WOMEN'S FREEDOM. TWO MINUTES TO READ, TWO MINUTES TO JOIN. 
On the fortieth anniversary of Law 194, on Thursday, July 26, the City Council of Verona, where until a few weeks ago the current Minister for Family Affairs, Lorenzo Fontana, was deputy mayor, will discuss two motions, both proposed by the Northern League, against women's freedom of choice and self-determination. Law no. 434 aims to provide significant space and funding for Catholic associations that work to combat free and unrestricted abortion. It also seeks to officially proclaim Verona a "pro-life city."“. Motion No. 441 wants to systematize the “burial of unborn children”, even without the consent of the woman involved.
In support of our comrades at NUDM Verona, we have decided to support and invite you to spread the word about two campaigns in support of women's self-determination against all obscurantism and fascism:

As a citizen concerned about the increasingly evident fundamentalist trend in Verona, I ask that the city council not approve motions 434 and 441, which seek to impede the implementation of Law 194 of 1978 on voluntary termination of pregnancy and women's self-determination.

On the fortieth anniversary of law 194, which established the possibility for
women to have safe, free and open abortions are about to be discussed in
City Council two motions that worry that large part of the
citizenship that cares about women's right to choice and self-determination.
It deals with motion no. 434 proposed by Alberto Zelger (Northern League) and also signed
by the mayor Federico Sboarina (Battiti) – aimed at giving ample space to associations
Catholics aimed at opposing free and open abortion – and n. 441 connected to the
previous motion and proposal by Anna Grassi, also from the Northern League – aimed at starting
a program of “burial of unborn children”, even without the consent of the
woman involved.
We are concerned that the municipality of Verona intends to confirm the
fundamentalist drift that has characterised its policy on matters of
civil and reproductive rights through anti-historical motions aimed at emptying
increasingly in practice law 194 and consequently to deprive women of their
fundamental rights to health and self-determination. We also denounce that
the approval of the above motions would have the specific purpose of funding
Catholic associations that have the clear intent of delegitimizing the law that
guarantees the voluntary termination of pregnancy.
This latest act which is taking place in the Municipality of Verona is part of
fully in line with motion no. 340 approved on July 4th by the Council
Veneto regional government confirms its support for social actors operating in
defense of the natural family and policies to support birth rates. We are
aware that the alliance of the right and the Catholic fundamentalist sectors is working
to attack in all directions all those subjectivities that do not adhere to the ancient
rhetoric of the simplification of every self-determined choice to a single canon,
that of compulsory heteronormativity and motherhood as an obligatory choice.
