Arcigay Agrigento expresses satisfaction with the approval of a motion against homophobia, submitted by the association to Mayor Calogero Firetto.
The motion presented to the city council was approved unanimously.
The motion orders "the institutions to adhere to any initiative that is proposed
against discrimination against homosexuals, by preparing a broad public awareness campaign on the problem in order to prevent possible attacks on LGBT people, thus countering any form of violence and/or discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.”
The approval is a concrete step forward and represents a tangible expression of the institutions' support for the local gay community. Arcigay has already presented the motion in Licata, Agrigento, and the Provincial Council and intends to present it to other municipalities, hoping they will follow the example of the Porto Empedocle municipality.
The provincial committee also expresses its gratitude to the entire municipal council, represented by Mayor Calogero Firetto.
