Arcigay Genoa: Demonstration for secularism tomorrow

Tomorrow, September 20, 2011, on the 150th anniversary of Italian unification, Arcigay and Arcilesbica Genova will participate, together with other associations, in an initiative to promote the values of secularism.
The event will take place in the reception hall of Palazzo Tursi, at 5:30 pm, in the presence of Andrea Ranieri, Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Genoa.

Sergio Lariccia of La Sapienza University of Rome and magistrate Franco Becchino of the Methodist Church of Savona will contribute to the debate on the relationship between Church and State.

"September 20th is an important anniversary to relaunch the values of secularism," says Ostilia Mulas, president of Arcigay-Arcilesbica. "Tomorrow's demonstration will also be an opportunity to draw the attention of all those people, groups, and associations who believe in those values and to the need to defend them by networking among us.".
The associations I represent are proud to participate in this initiative. I believe it's very important for us to defend our country's founding values, even if there are no laws yet that officially protect us or recognize our rights. If we want an inclusive country that respects diversity, secularism is a fundamental aspect.,
Indeed, it is a common good, to be protected and used as a tool to improve everyone's lives... after all, if we look around carefully, we see that even secularism can work miracles, in every field."”

Ostilia Mulas, president of Arcigay Genoa
