Bologna, August 18, 2013 – Homosexuality stems from the lack of a father figure and is "cured" through prayer: this is the delusional theory that tourists passing through the Mediterranean Amphitheater in Bisceglie (BT) heard from an actor on the evening of August 16, during the musical "Il mio canto libero – (Scegli la vita!)" performed by the "Arca dell'Alleanza" community. The event opened the program of "Musicals and Evangelization on the Streets and Beaches of Bisceglie," an event scheduled in the Apulian town from August 16 to 18, sponsored by the Municipality and the Youth Ministry. The outraged tourists themselves reported the event to Arcigay BAT (Barletta – Andria – Trani), which, upon contacting the community, confirmed the content of the monologue. "A false and wicked message," comments Arcigay President Flavio Romani, "that underscores the discomfort and sense of inadequacy that young homosexuals are forced to experience in our country and which today, as the news shows, has the hallmarks of a genuine emergency. "Is this the freedom of opinion," asks the Arcigay President, "that Catholics intend to safeguard in the text of the law against homotransphobia? Are these the views—identical in nature to Nazi eugenics—that our Parliament wants to safeguard by amending that law?" Finally, an appeal to the Municipality of Bisceglie: "We expect," Romani concludes, "a clear distancing from the municipal administration and a public apology to the many people hurt and offended by that monologue.".
