Bologna, June 5, 2015 Benevento, Pavia, and Verona will be the three cities where the Pride Wave will kick off tomorrow, the large-scale national LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex) pride demonstration that will sweep across Italy between June and July. "It's time to bring pride back to the streets," says Flavio Romani, president of Arcigay, "to once again, stubbornly, sound the alarm to a Parliament and a Government that are still unable to recognize the lives, needs, and relationships of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people. It's time to return to the streets to establish the primacy of our freedoms over those who sow fear and division, to put the beauty of our self-determined existences, continually forced, offended, and distorted by bad politics and misinformation, back at the center of public debate. Here we are, all of us, showing off our pride, which is an indispensable precondition for any happiness, in defiance of those who would like to "correct" or even "cure" us, actually riding the opportunity to defraud the most naive, extorting money with the blessing of the Church and those who govern us. We're starting with three squares to fill them all, to call people from every corner to march with us. We must demand more, we deserve a A better country: taking to the streets, tomorrow as at all the events of this Pride Wave, means going out to conquer it,“ concludes Romani.
