Bologna, October 9, 2014 – Arcigay joins the national mobilization #entrainscena promoted by the Student Union and student movements throughout Italy for October 10. "We support the needs of this country's youth and school workers," explains Arcigay's Head of School, Davide Zotti, "and we share their deep concern for a fragile school system, which is gradually weakening under the effects of cuts, alarming outsourcing, and the progressive divestment of public assets, which are transforming them into a marketable good, dismantling their constitutional relevance. We all need a 'good school'," Zotti maintains, "a public, secular, free school, open to differences, capable of educating for freedom rather than stifling it. A welcoming school, capable of being an environment of growth and education for every future citizen, without discrimination based on nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or socioeconomic status; a school that, on the contrary, aims to correct the discriminatory culture that boys and girls absorb from their surroundings, working on awareness and teaching recognition of others. But above all, a 'good' school is a collective challenge, of the State and civil society, on which we must focus without sparing ourselves the stakes, indeed with the certainty of making the most profitable of investments, where every penny spent yields a thousand returns“.
