Giovanni Bacaro is the new president of the Pansexual Movement – Arcigay Circle of Siena. At its first provincial congress, the association elected its new leadership team, ahead of the fourteenth national congress of Arcigay, which will take place next November. Giovanni Bacaro will be supported for the next two years by Francesco Vitobello, vice president; Alice Vannini, secretary; and Francesco Montefoschi, treasurer. The new board members are Filippo Monti and Giuseppe Gasparro.
“"Our commitment," declared newly elected president Bacaro, "will be to support in Siena the battles for social equality and against sexual discrimination that Arcigay has always fought on a national scale. Starting today, the association marks a new beginning, with its protagonists primarily young girls and boys, tired of having to hide for fear of being rejected by a society unprepared and fearful of diversity. Our goal is to share our experience so that they can recognize, accept, and share this experience. None of us is different from society. What makes us different is a state that persists in considering us second-class citizens, denying us and our families the same rights as heterosexual people.".
The Pansexual Movement has been present in the city for three years and currently represents the only LGBTQ organization. The association organizes an aperitif every Wednesday at the Termini bar, with the aim of promoting and encouraging people to get to know each other. Every Monday, the MetroCubo premises at Via Roma 77 host a welcome event for those who want to learn more about LGBTQ issues or actively participate in the association's life. The Glitter party is held once a month, and cultural activities will soon resume, including a film club, a literary festival, and various sports activities.
