Bologna, September 16, 2016 – “She claims to be protesting against a “stepfather” state, but in reality she behaves like a fairytale stepmother, who attacks children she feels aren’t hers,” declared Gabriele Piazzoni, national secretary of Arcigay. He continues: "The mayor of Cascina, Susanna Ceccardi of the Northern League, has done a disservice to her role with her statements: there are no children or stepchildren in her municipality, and there are none in our country. For this reason, I will be very happy to participate, on behalf of Arcigay, in the initiative organized tomorrow in Cascina by the center-left political forces, together with Senator Sergio Lo Giudice, Senator Monica Cirinnà, and other representatives of the voluntary sector. We must respond firmly to those who attempt to turn rights into a platform for political propaganda, at the expense of those to whom those same rights are being denied. And these events, rather than causing us to retreat, must be an opportunity to forcefully relaunch the fight for equality, a goal that has so far eluded our country," concludes Piazzoni.
