However, we are still stunned that this container, containing the worst homophobic and misogynistic thoughts, has arrived in Italy, the first Western European country to host it. This is an unprecedented and frightening event that bodes ill for the recognition of human and civil rights. Key ministers of this government, Salvini, Bussetti, and Fontana, will be speaking at that event. The government cannot turn a blind eye; it must stem the obscurantist drift that we have been denouncing for months now. Our country has nothing to learn from the speakers invited to Verona, and it is disturbing that members of the government are engaging in dialogue with those who oppress women, homosexuals, and transgender people around the world. In this sense, we thank the parliamentarians who have been expressing the country's outrage over this initiative in the chamber these days, and we join the chorus of those who are calling for action.
