Yet another anti-gay murder involving an elderly person in the capital.
The murder that occurred this afternoon in the San Giovanni neighborhood of Rome reopens the long-standing question of the safety of homosexuals, particularly the elderly, forced by a life marked by social atomization to resort to furtive and clandestine meetings with young prostitutes who too often turn out to be their tormentors.
“"The homosexual movement cannot be left alone to face a phenomenon that is taking on increasingly disturbing proportions," declared Arcigay national president Sergio Lo Giudice. "In other Western countries, from the Netherlands to the United States, from Great Britain to Australia, specific projects exist, developed by local police forces in collaboration with homosexual associations, to address violence against homosexuals and improve relations between the police and the gay community.
We ask Minister Scajola to take action to ensure that the growing phenomenon of violence and murder against homosexual citizens in Italy becomes the subject of a joint intervention between the Ministry of the Interior and gay associations.".
