No license because he's gay

BRINDISI: Driver's license renewal denied because he's gay: the latest "discriminatory folly," as Arcigay has called it, this time targets a young man from Puglia. Cristian F., a resident of the province of Brindisi and holder of a driving license issued in 1999, was denied his license renewal due to "conditions that could compromise driving safety." These "conditions" were based on a communication sent by the Bari Military Hospital, where the young man had been sent after coming out as gay during his military service. This communication "raises doubts about the continued existence of the psychophysical fitness requirements for driving a license." Radical MPs reported the incident and submitted an urgent question to the Ministers of Transportation and Defense, documenting and reconstructing the extremely serious discrimination. The consequences of this denial, the Radicals emphasize, continue to cause serious harm to the young Apulian, particularly in the workplace, due to the inability to move. But it's not the first time this has happened: in Catania, another young man had his license suspended "for sexual identity disorder," and the matter was resolved a month ago with compensation from the Ministry of Transport. And while the«Arcigay Anna Paola Concia (PD) calls for the immediate intervention of Minister Mara Carfagna, while she denounces a real "state homophobia".
