Arcigay against the Outing list

(ANSA) – "A page out of an operetta: the much-hyped list of homophobic gay politicians was published a full 20 minutes early, and contains 10 names of politicians, no proof, no evidence of their homophobia, no dossier, no verified or verifiable sources, at least for now." This is according to Paolo Patanè, national president of Arcigay.

“"Some of the names are widely rumored, and the presumption of their homosexuality is spreading from mouth to mouth. Some are very homophobic, others have never publicly expressed their views on the subject, but voted against a very timid anti-homophobia law. None of them are politically defensible, of course, but what they are subjected to is banal anonymous gossip," Patané added.

“"Here we are beyond the evaluation of the outing tool, which we immediately distanced ourselves from in keeping with our culture, our tradition, and our principles. Here we are faced with a miserable stream of unfounded gossip that ends up deceiving people's expectations, their anger, and their suffering over the lack of rights. The operation concluded in this way has no value, only the ridiculousness of its inconsistency and the cynicism with which it played on the weariness of LGBT people," concluded Arcigay.
