We have received news of the presentation in Turin of a bill regulating civil unions that, in terms of both text and inspiration, dates back over fifteen years despite having been written in 2008. We would first like to thank Sandro Gozi, Antonio Boccuzzi, and Ileana Argentin, who collected their signatures in response to a bill so far removed from the country's reality. This Italy is also depicted by ISTAT, which shows that over 40% of Italians support marriage open to same-sex couples with all the rights that come with it. Full equality is not a political bargain, it's not a folkloristic carnival: it's something few seem to understand, while others imagine it like separate seats on buses for African-Americans in the 1960s. To Mimmo Lucà and Giorgio Merlo, along with Morgando, who presented the bill this morning, we offer this advice: "More can be done, without being heroes." The song is old, more or less contemporary with the spirit of their proposal.
