It has been released in bookstores these days “Shocked – A Journey into Transgender Reality” (Alpes, “Il neofunzionalismo” series, 2017), a book that tells two lives, two stories of transsexual people, those of Andrea and Sara, who courageously decided to go all the way, crossing the abyss to then recognize themselves, find themselves again and live the truth and fullness of themselves. It is the work written by four hands by functional psychotherapists Chiara Dalle Luche and Roberta Rosin, which has long been attentive to issues related to gender identity and policies.
Andrea and Sara crossed the threshold, choosing to go "beyond," carrying with them a painful baggage of fears, prejudices, and stereotypes, but also expectations and hopes for a new future. Theirs is a long and arduous journey, a necessary journey toward awareness, narrated in these pages by the two psychotherapists step by step, addressing the transition in all its many dimensions: psychological, medical-surgical, and endocrinological, legal, but also social, starting with the implications for family and relationships.
“Sconvolti” is the first book in Italy to tackle the transgender issue from every angle., with the aim of providing useful information to people living their daily lives trapped in a body that doesn't correspond to their gender, to help them navigate the gray area of gender dysphoria.
