Italy is a Republic founded on work but not for trans* people!
If you exclude trans* people, you exclude their talents. It is the national campaign for the inclusion and right to work of trans* people that Arcigay is carrying out on the occasion of May 1st 2022.
The unemployment rate for trans* people in Italy is five times higher than the average. The first form of discrimination often manifests itself during job interviews, where trans* individuals, in the majority of cases, are rejected.
The campaign aims to send a clear and direct message: excluding a candidate for a particular job position simply because their identity doesn't conform to the document or social expectations of male and female means excluding potential talent. This is detrimental to the excluded individual, but also to the companies themselves.
Work is a right, trans* people have the right to work!
