A transgender person attacked in Salerno

A transgender person attacked in Salerno. Rocco Del Regno (Arcigay Salerno): "More hate crimes against transgender people. Added to this violence is inappropriate and discriminatory language from the press and law enforcement. We demand greater respect, protection, and attention for our community.".

We learned from local press reports of an attack on a transgender woman, the victim of physical assault by two men last night. She is believed to be a sex worker, and money and personal belongings were stolen. Law enforcement intervention led to the identification of the two attackers and, according to news sources, the recovery of the stolen goods.
“"This is yet another attack, even more atrocious because it comes just days after the Commemoration of the Victims of Transphobia, which we celebrated over the weekend," explains Rocco Del Regno, President of Arcigay Salerno. "And the language we see in local newspapers is even more horrifying, where the masculine pronoun is still used to refer to a transgender person who has assumed and chosen the female gender. This superficiality and disrespect are appalling," Del Regno continues. "We would like the local press to help us and be more professional and competent in disseminating correct and inclusive language. "Be ready," concludes the President of Arcigay Salerno, "to share with those working in communications the training courses and guidelines that we will publish soon.".
We now await the results of the measures and the decisions of the relevant bodies.
