Today, Sunday June 25th at the Royal Hospice for the Poor – Palazzo Fuga in Piazza Carlo III, in Naples, the events of the Pride Park, a six-day event of cultural, political, and social initiatives and events in defense of the needs and rights of LGBTQI+ people and beyond. The event, which will end on June 30th, precedes by just one week the 16th edition of Naples Pride, scheduled for Saturday, July 1st. Scheduled for today at 5:30 pm is a public talk on CULTURE, SCHOOL AND INCLUSION with two special guests, the writer MAURIZIO DE GIOVANNI And MAURA STRIANO, Councilor for Education and Family Affairs for the City of Naples. Among those present will be VINCENZO CAPUANO, GIAN PIETRO GENTILUCCI LEONARDI, MARIA LIPPIELLO, and CARMELA SMALDONE. Moderator: Claudio Finelli.
Following the screening of two cult short films on LGBT+ themes “LUIGI AND VINCENZO” by Giuseppe Bucci and "AMBROSIA" by Peter Spark. Following the two shorts, there will be a screening of the documentary film dedicated to the Neapolitan transgender activist. Loredana Rossi, THE MOTHER OF FEMMINIELLI – LOREDANA AGAINST TRANSPHOBIA by Giulia Ottaviano.
Loredana Rossi herself, present at the screening, will entertain the audience with a game of femminielli bingo after the screening.
The evening will end with folk music and the tambourines of the group Torre Annunziata, “Those of the Curve”.
Pride Park will then resume on Monday, June 26th with the anti-fascist citizens' assembly, a poetry reading presented by Agedo, a screening of Famiglie Arcobaleno's short films, and a performance of Luca Scafati's short film AL DI FUORI DELL'AMORE.
Pride Park will feature stands from numerous LGBTQI+ and non-LGBTQI organizations, as well as information points from anti-discrimination centers in Naples, Caivano, San Giorgio a Cremano, and Pomigliano d'Arco. Visitors will also be able to visit several exhibitions free of charge, including one on gender-specific toys and the Nero Acciaio comics exhibition, as well as a photography exhibition on the history of Italian lesbian feminism and one exploring the persecution of homosexuals confined to the Tremiti Islands during Fascism. Rapid, anonymous, and free HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis testing will be available throughout the six-day event, provided by the Check Point of Antinoo Arcigay Napoli and supported by Rain Arcigay Carta and Apple Pie Avellino.
The Pride Park is organized by the Naples Pride Committee, Antinoo Arcigay Naples, Le Maree ALFI Naples, and the Trans Naples Association, with the support of the Municipality of Naples, Naples City of Music, and POPAP!-Popular Albergo dei Poveri, as well as many other associations and organizations.
