May 31, 2025 – Onda Pride 2025, the major demonstration in support of LGBTQIA+ rights organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations, is getting into full swing with five marches scheduled for today: Alessandria, Caserta, Enna, Padua and Savona. Alessandria Pride will meet at 4:00 PM on Viale della Repubblica, Caserta Pride will depart from Piazza Vanvitelli at 4:00 PM, Enna Pride has scheduled its meeting at 5:00 PM at Castello di Lombardia, while Padova Pride will gather at 3:00 PM in Piazza De Gasperi. Finally, Savona Pride will meet at 2:00 PM in Piazza delle Nazioni Unite.
“Today, while in five Italian cities we take to the streets with pride and determination – declares Gabriele Piazzoni, Secretary General of Arcigay, our support also goes to the national mobilization against the Meloni government's shameful security decree. The hand brandishing the truncheon against those protesting in the streets is the same one that wrote this liberticidal decree. It is the same hand that, from the halls of power, is day after day building an authoritarian state that represses dissent, diversity, and freedom. The security decree represents the first step in banning everything deemed a threat by those who wish to govern through fear and prejudice, systematically trampling on social and civil rights. It is the same mechanism we saw at work in Budapest, where they banned the Pride parade: first, dissent is criminalized, then rights are eliminated. The LGBTQIA+ community knows the face of repression and discrimination well. This is why we cannot remain silent in the face of a government that wants to transform Italy into a country where rights are revoked, protests are criminalized, and diversity is silenced. The Pride parades in Alessandria, Caserta, Enna, Padua, and Savona today are not just a celebration, but a demonstration of democracy,” concludes Piazzoni.
