Rome, September 11, 2025 Arcigay Secretary General Gabriele Piazzoni spoke today at a hearing before the Chamber of Deputies' Culture Committee to strongly condemn the Valditara, Sasso, and Amorese bills, calling them "pro-bully laws" that effectively legalize the educational neglect of victims of discrimination.
“"These rules," Piazzoni stated, "represent a capitulation to homophobic and transphobic bullying. They seek to impede education in affectivity and consent, depriving schools of the fundamental tools to prevent and combat discrimination. Under the guise of 'informed consent,' families' right to veto education in respect for diversity is institutionalized.".
“"The message is clear: the state is failing to protect the most vulnerable students," Piazzoni continues. "In particular, by affecting the careers of trans* and non-binary people, it is denying their right to identity, exposing them to the real risk of marginalization and violence. These pro-bullying laws mark a serious step backward in the fight against discrimination," Piazzoni concludes.
