Inauguration of the exhibition The Madonna of Homosexuals

  

On the occasion of the International Day Against Homophobia, Lesbophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia and Interphobia, Saturday, May 16th at 5:00 PM, at the Agricultural University of Vasanello, the exhibition dedicated to will be inaugurated Our Lady of Homosexuals, work by Master Raffaele Ciotola.

The work was conceived as a gesture of remembrance for the homosexual victims persecuted during Nazi-Fascism and recalls a long-removed page in European history. Thousands of people were affected by Paragraph 175, the provision of the German penal code used to repress male homosexuality and persecute gay men and people deemed non-conforming.

Our Lady of Homosexuals brings this memory into a strong, immediately recognizable image. The figure of the Madonna is taken not only and not so much as a religious symbol, but rather as an image of protection, welcome, and recognition. In this way, the work

The inauguration will be a moment of reflection on art, memory, marginalization, and rights. An opportunity to remember that countering hatred isn't just about the present, but also how we choose to preserve and tell the stories that have been excluded from public memory.

Institutional representatives, associations, and local organizations will be present at the event. Lorenzo Abbate, President of Arcigay Viterbo – Peter Boom APS, will also be present.
